Artists are Open Minded!

Kindergarteners have had a lot of loose teeth lately so we used our imaginations to create pictures of the tooth fairy. We decided the fairy could be a boy or a girl or maybe it changes! We used both geometric and organic shapes to make our designs. Here are some of our ideas:

Artists are Thinkers!

Let's think about color...

"Ooooo, Mrs. Charles, look! I made this really pretty orange!" "I just made this awesome greenish-bluish color!" "I made space blue!" "How did'ya get that?" "Red and purple."

These were just a few of the excited statements I heard this morning as the third graders invented new tints and shades of yellow, red, and blue. Maybe we can get them put into the new boxes of Crayola crayons!

Artists are Risktakers!

Our mascot here at Hayes is a giraffe. We are famous for sticking our necks out and reaching new heights! The art room is a great place to do that in a creative atmosphere where we can try new things! Here is a fantastic painting by one of our fourth graders of our mascot! We are working on using contrast and bold, structural lines to give the illusion of stained glass.
